If you're a chimney sweep, mason, or contractor, you already know the problem: your customer has a non-standard chimney, the big-box cap doesn't fit, and the stock replacement from a supply house looks wrong and lasts three winters. You need a cap built to actual dimensions, out of real material, by someone who knows what they're doing.
That's what I do. I'm Sean Biello, owner of Archaic Metal in Berlin, NJ — a one-man custom fabrication shop with over 32 years of experience in copper roofing, sheet metal, and architectural metalwork. Chimney sweeps and contractors across the country order directly from me, skip the middleman, and get exactly what they need.
What I Fabricate
Every cap I build is custom fabricated to your submitted dimensions — no standard sizing, no catalog SKUs. I work in:
- Copper — 16 oz, hand-cut, hand-formed, hand-finished. The material that lasts a lifetime and gets better looking over time.
- Stainless steel — 2B 304, 24 gauge. Corrosion-resistant, clean finish, the right call for customers who want durability without the copper price point.
- Kynar aluminum — factory-coated in any standard Kynar color. Matches roofing and trim when aesthetics matter.
- Galvalume — for straightforward protection where finish color isn't the priority. Note: soldered collars are not available on Galvalume or Kynar-coated materials.
- Lead coated copper — for historic preservation work.
Cap styles include curved panel standing seam, hip roof, flat lid with cross brake, cathedral arch, and more. If you have a design on paper or a photo from the architect's plan, send it over — I can work from it.
How It Works for Trade Orders
The process is straightforward. You take your measurements on site — chimney dimensions, flue locations, flue sizes, and overall height — and send them to me directly. I'll confirm the order details, give you a lead time, and fabricate to spec. Caps and chase covers ship fully assembled in 3–4 weeks, nationwide.
I don't have a complicated quoting form. Call or text me directly at (609)352-9840 and we can talk through the job. If you'd rather send dimensions by text or email, that works too. I'm the one building it, so any question you have goes straight to the person with the answer.
What Trade Buyers Get
- Direct access to the fabricator — no sales reps, no customer service queue, no one reading from a script. You talk to me.
- Caps built to real dimensions — measured in the field, not selected from a size range. Every cap covers the full chimney crown.
- Soldered flue collars standard on chase covers — copper, stainless, and lead coated copper, included on every flue penetration, no upcharge.
- Materials your customers can see the value in — copper and stainless steel are easy to explain and easy to sell. They don't ask why it costs more when they're looking at hand-formed copper on their roof.
- 32 years of fabrication experience — I've done historic preservation work on churches, schools, and landmark buildings. A custom chimney cap is straightforward work. I won't get your dimensions wrong.
- Nationwide shipping — fully crated, ships from Berlin, NJ. I've shipped to every region of the country.
Chase Covers — Custom Fabricated With Soldered Flue Collars Standard
If your customer has a wood-framed prefab chase, they need a chase cover before the cap goes on. I fabricate custom chase covers in stainless steel, copper, Kynar aluminum, and Galvalume — built to your submitted dimensions and flue locations.
On copper, stainless steel, and lead coated copper chase covers, every flue penetration comes standard with a 3-inch soldered standing collar. Not riveted. Not caulked. Soldered — the way it's supposed to be done. A lot of fabricators offer soldering as an upcharge or skip it entirely. I include it because it's the right way to build the penetration, and you don't want a callback because the collar joint failed in year two. Your customer won't call me — they'll call you.
A lot of sweeps encounter chases with deteriorated galvanized covers that have been rusting out for years. A custom stainless or copper replacement is an easy upsell — it lasts, it looks right, and your customer understands what they're getting.
