Custom Chimney Chase Cover — Hand-Fabricated to Your Exact Dimensions
Select your approximate chimney width, then your approximate chimney length. Your cap will be custom fabricated to your exact dimensions.
Shipping
Because copper is a premium material, we don't trust cardboard. Every Archaic Metal cap is secured inside a custom-built, heat-treated wood crate. This prevents dents and 'fret marks' during transit. Your order is fully insured and shipped via heavy-duty freight to ensure it arrives in 'New Penny' condition.
Please note: Large caps ship via LTL Freight. If your property cannot accommodate a full-sized 18-wheeler, please let us know so we can arrange a terminal pickup or a smaller delivery truck.
If you have a wood-framed prefab chimney chase, a chase cover is the flat metal top that seals it — and it needs to be right.
Every chase cover ships from my shop in Berlin, NJ, hand-fabricated to your exact dimensions — properly sloped for drainage, hemmed edges, and a 3" soldered standing collar around each flue pipe penetration. Most fabricators treat soldering as an optional upcharge. Here it's standard on every copper and stainless cover, built in at no extra cost.
I've been fabricating sheet metal components for 32 years. One craftsman, one shop, no shortcuts.
What's Included
- Cut to your exact length and width
- Material of your choice — copper or stainless steel, selected above
- 3" soldered waterproof collar at each flue penetration — standard on both materials
- Proper slope and hemmed edges
- Ships anywhere in the USA in a custom wood crate
Material Options
Stainless Steel (2B 304 24 gauge) — The workhorse material for chase covers. Corrosion-resistant, strong, and indefinitely maintainable. Soldered collar standard.
16oz Copper — The premium choice. Develops a natural patina over time, outlasts the chase it sits on, and carries a soldered collar as standard. A copper chase cover is a permanent installation.
Do I Need a Chase Cover or a Chimney Cap?
If you have a wood-framed prefab chimney chase, you need both. The chase cover seals the top of the chase — the cap mounts on top of it. They're two separate pieces. Not sure what you have? Text a photo to (609) 352-9840 and I'll tell you exactly what you need. Wood Framed Chase Post click here
Lead Time
3–4 weeks from measurement confirmation. Every cover is made to order — I don't stock finished inventory.
How to Order
Select your approximate width and approximate length using the size selectors above. Your cover will be custom fabricated to your exact dimensions — add a minimum of 1/4" to your measurements for proper fit.
Contact me with your exact dimensions, number of flue penetrations, and zip code before purchasing and I'll confirm sizing and provide an exact shipping quote. Multiple flues or off-center penetrations? Just describe it or send a photo — I'll handle the layout.

Measuring & Ordering
Measure the outside of your chimney at the top — length and width at the crown or chase cover surface. Width is always the shorter dimension.
For side mount caps, add a minimum of ¼″ to each dimension before ordering — the drip edge shelf must clear the chimney sides. For top mount caps, measure the exact footprint.
If your chimney is out of square by more than ¾″–1″, contact me before ordering — a template may be needed. All caps are custom fabricated to your dimensions. No returns on custom orders.
Top Mount vs. Side Mount
Side Mount (recommended): The drip edge shelf sits on the chimney crown or chase top and wraps the sides. Fastened through the drip edge face into the chimney — screws, masonry pins, tapcons, or anchors. Construction adhesive optional under shelf in thick 4″ beads every 4–6″ — never a continuous bead. Covers the full chimney top.
Top Mount: The flange sits flat on the crown or chase top. Fastened through the flange — tapcons, screws, anchors, or construction adhesive. Any fastener penetrations through the top surface must be waterproofed.

Installation
Installation is straightforward but I recommend a roofing contractor or chimney professional for any work at height.
Hardware included or available on request: copper-clad rubber grommet screws for copper caps; color-match rubber grommet screws for Kynar, Galvalume, and stainless caps. EPDM rubber gasket pieces available on request for top mount applications.
All lids require a screwdriver to remove. See the full installation guide: Chimney Cap Installation Tips →
Shipping & Lead Time
Lead time is typically 3–4 weeks from order. Caps ship via LTL freight (ABF) in a custom wooden crate.
Residential delivery includes curbside liftgate service — make sure your address can accommodate a tractor trailer.
Commercial addresses are typically less expensive, especially with a loading dock or forklift on-site. Terminal pickup is also available and less expensive than door delivery.
Freight quotes require your delivery address and property type — call or text (609) 352-9840.
