Shipping
Large caps ship via LTL freight in a custom-built, heat-treated wood crate, fully insured. I need your exact dimensions, address type (residential or commercial), and zip code before you order. Call or text (text is best) (609) 352-9840 to receive a custom freight quote. LTL freight means your order will arrive on a full-size tractor-trailer. The driver will bring the crate to the back of the truck with liftgate service — curbside delivery. You are responsible for getting it up your driveway from there. Delivery add-ons are available if needed. If your property can't accommodate a full-size freight truck or you don't have help moving the crate from the curb, I can arrange delivery add-ons for the freight company to move the crate to a designated area on or inside your property. Terminal pickup and smaller delivery vehicle options are also available. This way it arrives the way it left my shop — in perfect condition.
How to Order Full Size Caps
Select your approximate chimney width and approximate chimney length using the size selectors above. Your cap will be custom fabricated to your exact dimensions — add a minimum of 1/4" to your measurements for proper fit.
Contact me with your chimney dimensions and zip code before purchasing and I'll confirm sizing and provide an exact shipping quote. Lead time is 3–4 weeks from measurement confirmation.

Have a Wood-Framed Chase?
If your chimney sits on a prefab wood-framed chase, you'll need a chase cover in addition to this cap. The cap mounts on top of the chase cover — it does not have a flat bottom with pre-cut holes for your flue pipe(s). If there's currently no metal cover on your chase, you need both. The Custom Crown Top Vent Chimney Cap — Anodized Aluminum
The Crown Top Vent is the most architecturally assertive cap I build — a prominent stepped crown section on top, concave curved panels below, and an open vent screen that lets flue gases exhaust through the top of the cap as well as the sides. This version is anodized aluminum: the color is fused into the metal through an electrolytic process, not painted or coated on top. It holds in direct sun and weather exposure without fading, peeling, or chalking. No maintenance required.
Hand-fabricated to your exact chimney dimensions in my Berlin, NJ shop. Each cap is a one-off — cut, formed, and assembled to fit the chimney it's going on.
Anodized Finishes Available
- Matte Gold — warm, subdued tone that reads bronze in certain light
- Bronze — darker, architectural bronze finish
- Black — clean matte black, works on any roofline
- Medium Antique Copper — aged copper tone without the patina cycle
Construction Details
- Stepped crown section — the raised, tiered crown gives this cap a formal architectural profile
- Concave curved panel body — panels run from the base flange up to the crown, adding depth and shadow line to the silhouette
- Top vent screen — allows flue gases to exhaust vertically through the top of the cap in addition to the sides
- 18-gauge stainless steel spark screen — all four sides
- Cross-brake removable lid — structural rigidity and positive water drainage; lifts off for flue access
- Side mount skirt with drip edge — wraps the exterior of your chimney crown, no penetration through masonry
- Riveted construction with stainless color-match rivets
About Archaic Metal
I've been fabricating custom architectural sheet metal in South Jersey since 1994 — 32 years working copper, Kynar aluminum, Galvalume, and stainless steel by hand. Every cap that leaves my shop I built myself. If you have questions about your chimney or which cap is the right fit, message me or call.
