Because copper is a premium material, we don't trust cardboard. Every Archaic Metal cap is secured inside a custom-built, heat-treated wood crate. This prevents dents and 'fret marks' during transit. Your order is fully insured and shipped via heavy-duty freight to ensure it arrives in 'New Penny' condition.

Please note: Large caps ship via LTL Freight. If your property cannot accommodate a full-sized 18-wheeler, please let us know so we can arrange a terminal pickup or a smaller delivery truck.

Shipping

Large caps ship via LTL freight in a custom-built, heat-treated wood crate, fully insured. I need your exact dimensions, address type (residential or commercial), and zip code before you order. Call or text (text is best) (609) 352-9840 to receive a custom freight quote. LTL freight means your order will arrive on a full-size tractor-trailer. The driver will bring the crate to the back of the truck with liftgate service — curbside delivery. You are responsible for getting it up your driveway from there. Delivery add-ons are available if needed. If your property can't accommodate a full-size freight truck or you don't have help moving the crate from the curb, I can arrange delivery add-ons for the freight company to move the crate to a designated area on or inside your property. Terminal pickup and smaller delivery vehicle options are also available. This way it arrives the way it left my shop — in perfect condition.

How to Order Full Size Caps

Select your approximate chimney width and approximate chimney length using the size selectors above. Your cap will be custom fabricated to your exact dimensions — add a minimum of 1/4" to your measurements for proper fit.

Contact me with your chimney dimensions and zip code before purchasing and I'll confirm sizing and provide an exact shipping quote. Lead time is 3–4 weeks from measurement confirmation.

Have a Wood-Framed Chase?

If your chimney sits on a prefab wood-framed chase, you'll need a chase cover in addition to this cap. The cap mounts on top of the chase cover — it does not have a flat bottom with pre-cut holes for your flue pipe(s). If there's currently no metal cover on your chase, you need both. The Modern Louvered Chimney Cap is one of the most architecturally layered caps I build. A full-perimeter louvered body with internal side screens, a double stepped fascia above it, curved panel sides tapering upward, a crown at the roofline, and a solid removable lid on top. Side mount or top mount. Built to your exact chimney dimensions in copper, Kynar-painted aluminum, or Galvalume.

The profile reads like a cupola — louvered sides (sometimes called blades or fins), curved standing seam roof panel, crown details above and below the curve. If you searched "cupola chimney cap," "blade chimney cap," or "finned chimney cap" and landed here, you're in the right place.

Construction Details

The louvered body runs the full perimeter of the cap — horizontal fins with integrated side screens that block rain, debris, and animals while keeping airflow open. Above the louvers, a double stepped fascia adds strong horizontal shadow lines and architectural definition before the profile transitions into curved panel sides. A crown detail wraps the top of the curved panel section at the roofline. The solid removable lid sits on top and lifts off when you need access to the flue for inspection or cleaning.

Side mount uses a vertical skirt with a drip edge that wraps the exterior of your chimney crown — no penetration through the masonry. Top mount uses a full-perimeter flange set in elastomeric sealant and fastened directly to the crown surface. Both options are built to your dimensions.

Materials

Galvalume — Riveted construction. Zinc-aluminum coated steel with a natural mill finish. Industrial aesthetic, strong corrosion resistance, and the lowest starting price of the three options. A good choice when longevity matters more than appearance.

Kynar-Painted Aluminum — Riveted construction. Factory-applied PVDF coating in a range of standard architectural colors. Holds its finish for decades without fading, peeling, or rusting. Lightweight and well-suited to any color-matched roofline. If you have a specific color in mind, message me — I can often match it.

16oz Copper — Riveted construction with copper rivets and brass mandrels. Starts bright and patinas naturally over the years, transitioning from warm penny to deep brown to verdigris. The premium choice for historic homes, high-end new construction, and any project where the cap is meant to be noticed. A copper louvered cap at this level of detail is something a store shelf will never produce.
