Large caps ship via LTL freight in a custom-built, heat-treated wood crate, fully insured. I need your exact dimensions, address type (residential or commercial), and zip code before you order. Call or text (text is best) (609) 352-9840 to receive a custom freight quote. LTL freight means your order will arrive on a full-size tractor-trailer. The driver will bring the crate to the back of the truck with liftgate service — curbside delivery. You are responsible for getting it up your driveway from there. Delivery add-ons are available if needed. If your property can't accommodate a full-size freight truck or you don't have help moving the crate from the curb, I can arrange delivery add-ons for the freight company to move the crate to a designated area on or inside your property. Terminal pickup and smaller delivery vehicle options are also available. This way it arrives the way it left my shop — in perfect condition.

How to Order Full Size Caps

Select your approximate chimney width and approximate chimney length using the size selectors above. Your cap will be custom fabricated to your exact dimensions — add a minimum of 1/4" to your measurements for proper fit.

Unlike store-bought caps that sit on the clay flue tile, this cap covers the entire chimney crown — base flange, screen, and roof — built to your exact footprint. Also called a chimney topper, chimney rain cap, chimney cover, chimney shroud, or chimney surround — whatever you call it, this one is built to last.

Have a Wood-Framed Chase?

If your chimney sits on a prefab wood-framed chase, you'll need a chase cover in addition to this cap. The cap mounts on top of the chase cover — it does not have a flat bottom with pre-cut holes for your flue pipe(s). If there's currently no metal cover on your chase, you need both. The Arched Cathedral Copper Chimney Cap

The gothic cathedral arch is one of the most recognized silhouettes in Western architecture — a pointed arch that has defined cathedrals, abbeys, and historic buildings for centuries. On a chimney, it reads immediately as intentional. This is not a cap that blends in. If your home has pointed arch windows, Gothic Revival detailing, or simply deserves something more dramatic than a hip-roof box on top of the masonry, this is the cap.

Every cap is hand-fabricated to your exact chimney dimensions in my shop in Berlin, NJ from 16oz cold-rolled copper. The arch profile, the standing seam ridge, the screen opening, the base flange — all cut, formed, and assembled by hand. 20oz copper is available on request for those who want additional gauge. The copper will weather through warm penny tones and chocolate browns before settling into a natural verdigris patina over years — a living finish that gets better with time.

Competitors brand this profile under different names — Bishop's Arch, Gothic copper chimney cap — but the silhouette is the same pointed arch Archaic Metal has been building since 1994.

Installation

The Arched Cathedral Chimney Cap installs as a top mount or side mount depending on your chimney. Top mount places the cap directly on the chimney crown with a full-perimeter base flange set in elastomeric sealant. Side mount uses a drip edge detail fastened through the side of the chimney masonry for a more permanent attachment. No pitch-matching, no friction-dependent flue clamps. The cap fastens to the chimney and stays put.

Material Options

16oz Copper — warm penny tone new, weathering through browns to a natural patina over years. The most durable and visually distinctive option. Riveted construction with copper rivets and solid brass mandrels.

20oz Copper — heavier gauge, available on request. Contact me before ordering.
